Russian ambassador receives a note
Evaldas Ignatavičius, Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, submitted a note of protest to Vladimir Chkhikvadze, Ambassador of Russia, over the disturbance of the Lithuanian airspace on 29 March.
The incident happened on 27 March from 7:17 to 7:19 p.m., when a Russian fighter jet Su-27 flew 12 km into the territory of Lithuania near Vištytis, and then it turned around to return to Russia’s Kaliningrad region.
The representatives of Lithuanian Foreign Affairs explained the diplomatic note addressed to the Russian MFA draws attention to the infringement expressing Lithuania’s strict protest against it. Lithuania demanded the Ambassador to ensure that such incidents would not occur in the future.
