National Library week



Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite with a help of “internet bridge “greeted all librarians with the beginning of National Library week.

“Citizens come back increasingly to libraries. It is invaluable merit of each library and librarian ingenuity” – stressed the president.

According to the president, Library week is one of the opportunity to pay attention to books, mother tongue and the role of librarian.

“Encouraging our country citizens, especially young people, to read, helping them to choose books, necessarily we should enthuse them to read not only world literary news, but also Lithuanian authors writings” the president explained.

The president said:  “Today  library isn’t only shelf of full books. It is the place where the community comes to celebrate cultural events, foster traditions”.

The leader of Lithuania wished to librarians new ideas, creative approach to their work and support from our country citizens.
