Lithuanian airports propose a record number of destinations in the summer season
Constantly expanding the geography of direct flight destinations, this year Lithuanian international airports announce a record summer season. The record summer season will also be in the International Kaunas Airport. Here the timetable of flights is most intensive throughout the history of the Airport. Besides numerous existing direct European flights travellers will be able to choose new destinations as well, such as Palma de Mallorca, Cyprus, Malta and Reykjavik. Four airline companies operating in Kaunas Airport will provide flights to 23 European destinations.
“This year we expect to reach one more record of passenger numbers served at Lithuanian airports. More travellers have started coming to our airports from the very beginning of the year. In the first quarter of the year Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga airports handled 62.7 thousand passengers. It is by 30% more than in the respective period of the last year”, said Eligijus Masiulis, Minister of Transport and Communications.
Particularly intensive growth is observed in Vilnius International Airport, where the increase of travellers has reached almost 64% in comparison with the last year. Due to results of the last two months Vilnius International Airport is considered to be among the most rapidly growing airports in Europe.
