Lithuania has signed the contract with Hitachi for Visaginas nuclear implant
Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius in a press conference has remarked that Lithuania has signed the protocol with Hitachi for the new Nuclear Power Plant in Visagina.
He reminds that this projects – is not just a large investment, which will help creating additional jobs. The new NPP will also ensure energy security for the entire country.
The concession contract states that both sides hold responsibility for their halves of investments and take on the risks of this project. It is known that Lithuania should receive no less than 34% of share in this project.
Despite the concerning of the population after the Fukushima tragedy, Lithuania want to pursuit the energetic indipendency from Russia and nearest country Kubilius said.
No other detail are for now released regarding the timing of the building work of the NPP.
