Integrated data exchange system will connect all vessel traffic monitoring and information systems
European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) is planning to establish a joint data exchange system – Integrated Maritime Data Environment (IMDatE), which will connect all vessel traffic monitoring systems. This should improve the monitoring of maritime transport traffic.
The integrated maritime shipping data system should link all existing systems, such as SafeSeaNet (SSN), Automatic Identification System (AIS), Long-range identification and tracking(LRIT), CleanSeaNet and THETIS.
Users will be able to take different data sets and services. All information will be available regarding the ship, fleet, shipping and vessel traffic. Also it will be possible to see a general situation of a chosen region (maritime or oceanographic), as well as to make a general monitoring of the EU maritime transport space.
